Jerry Springer Wiki Biography
Gerald Norman Springer, to the public known as Jerry Springer, is a famous British-American talk show host, television anchor, game show host, television personality, as well as a television producer. Jerry Springer is perhaps best known as the host of a popular tabloid talk show called “The Jerry Springer Show”. The show debuted on television screens in 1991, and ever since then has attracted a large viewership. “The Jerry Springer Show” initially started out as a political talk show and had such guests as Jesse Jackson and Oliver North on it. However, in order to achieve higher ratings and increase the popularity of the series, Jerry Springer began delving into more controversial and provocative topics, which in turn contributed to the success of the show in the long run and influenced the change in many other talk shows that wanted to be as popular as Jerry Springer’s series. “The Jerry Springer Show” became so popular that it even beat Oprah Winfrey’s talk show called “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in 1998 in ratings.
Jerry Springer Net Worth $45 Million
However, with great fame and success came a lot of criticism and suspicion that the fights that usually broke out during the show were fake and scripted. As the creators of the show were forced to reduce the amount of violence shown on the screen, the ratings of “The Jerry Springer Show” decreased as well, nevertheless, over the years the show maintained a high enough average number of viewers in order to keep it on air.
A famous television talk show host, how rich is Jerry Springer? According to sources, Jerry Springer’s net worth is estimated to be $45 million. Needless to say, the majority of Jerry Springer’s net worth and wealth came from his involvement in the entertainment industry.
Jerry Springer was born in 1944, in London, England, but he moved out to the United States together with his parents in 1949. In the United States Springer’s family settled down in Queens, New York, where Springer started attending Forest Hills High School. Inspired by John F. Kennedy, Springer decided to pursue a career in politics and therefore he went to study at Tulane University, where he earned a degree in political science. Springer also has a Juris Doctor, a professional doctorate graduate degree in law, which he earned in the Northwestern University.
Jerry Springer started his political career as a campaign adviser and initially worked for Robert F. Kennedy. In 1970, Springer unsuccessfully ran for Congress, however, a year later he became a member of the Cincinnati city council. Later in life, Springer switched from politics to journalism and for some time worked as a political reporter, as well as a news commentator.
Jerry Springer’s breakthrough came in 1991 when he debuted with his own talk show “The Jerry Springer Show”. Ever since then, he has been featured on such television programs as “America’s Got Talent”, “The Adam Carolla Show”, “Married… With Children” with Ed O’Neill, Christina Applegate and Katey Sagal, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” with Drew Carey and many other shows.
